Meso-Sculpting (Meso-Lipo)

Meso-Sculpting, or Meso-Lipo as it is sometimes referred, is the use of mesotherapy technique to spot reduce areas of fat throughout the body.  As seen on 48 Hours and 20/20, it is used for cellulite reduction and it is an excellent alternative to liposuction since it is a non-surgical technique.  The inherent risks of liposuction such as general anesthesia, infection, bleeding, nerve damage and scarring are dramatically non-existant in Meso-sculpting.

It is used to reduce or eliminate the fat pads under the eyes that cause older eyes to look "baggy".  It can also be used to reduce the fat under the chin giving a leaner younger look to the face and neck.  For spot weight reduction in the waist it can be used to reduce the abdominal, hips and buttocks fat pads.  Many patients have reported a loss of 1-3 inches from these areas.

Cellulite (the medical term is Dermatomyoliposclerosis, DMLS) is a skin condition affecting over 90% of most post-pubescent women. Even those with a slim figure often complain about cellulite's external visible symptoms — its lumpy, dimpled appearance. Cellulite commonly appears on the hips, buttocks and legs, but is not caused by being overweight, as many believe.

Cellulite appears in the subcutaneous level of skin tissue. Fat cells are arranged in chambers surrounded by connective tissue called septae. As water is retained, fat cells held within the perimeters of this area expand and stretch the connective tissue. Eventually this connective tissue contracts and hardens (sclerosis) holding the skin at a non-flexible length, while the surrounding tissue continues to expand with weight, or water gain. This results in areas of the skin being held down while other sections bulge outward, resulting in the lumpy, 'cottage-cheese' appearance.

Meso-Sculpting reduces cellulite in the following ways:

  1. Dissolving excess of fat deposit
  2. Improving blood flow to the area
  3. Removing fibrotic, hardened connective tissue
  4. Improving lymphatic drainage

This results in a reduction of the “orange peel” appearance and in the loss of fat in the treated areas. Because cellulite is a permanent condition it requires more treatments than fat reduction by itself, usually 10 to 15 treatments or more if the condition is severe.

Approximately 20% of patients claimed immediate results for losing inches and some weight, for others the results are slower but still very noticeable.  For the right candidate, mesotherapy can be an excellent alternative to tumescent liposuction, the safest form of liposuction.  We use a proprietary, individualized "fat-burning" formula.  Patients who make a commitment to maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle following treatment should see their results last.  Some patients require some maintenance every six to twelve months.
