Hand Rejuvenation

Often times patients present with old looking hands.  The skin looks dry and with no elasticity.  The tendons are showing more. The veins on their hands are showing more.  The truth is that these veins are normal.  They should NEVER be treated!  We have seen many patients who have had their veins treated on their hands and arms and suffered greatly because of this.  Because these veins are normal and you are closing off (destroying) a good pathway of blood drainage you can develop very serious problems such as:

• Phlebitis
• Chronic swelling of the fingers and hands
• Chronic discoloration (red flushing) of the fingers and hands
• Chronic inflammation and pain in the fingers and hands

The reason the veins, and tendons, show more in the hands as you age is because you have lost volume.  The soft tissue that was there when you were younger is now thinner and reduced so you see your veins and tendons more easily and this can look unattractive and aged.  The skin also is not as elastic and has lost its hydration.  It looks like old crepe paper.

Here is a patients hands before treatment.  She was upset at the prominence and discoloration she had from her veins and the general aged look of her skin.

Here is her right hand treated with Radiesse using our new dilution technique.  She felt NO PAIN and the entire procedure took only 15 minutes. She left after both hands were treated and went back to work. She was able to resume a normal day with no restrictions.  The results are incredible!

Here is a close-up of the same right hand.  There is a very little amount of bruising which will resolve in 3-5 days.  Her new hand not only looks better because the veins and tendons are not as prominent, but also the texture of her skin has dramatically improved.  It no longer has that crepe look that she had from the loss of skin turgor(elasticity).  Her new plump and rejuvenated hand looks nearly two decades younger!
