Dr. Skversky received his medical degree from Hahnemann University in 1970. He completed his Family Practice residency at Hoag Memorial Hospital in Newport Beach, CA in 1973 and became a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice the same year.
Dr. Skversky is a staff physician at Hoag Memorial Hospital, a member of the American Medical Association, OCMA and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians. Dr. Skversky had been a family practice physician in Newport Beach for more than 22 years before practicing bariatrics full time.
Dr. Skversky has found his many years of experience as a primary care physician to be invaluable in treating his overweight patients, many of whom have such co-existing medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and heart disease. As Medical Director of Weight No More, Dr. Skversky has committed the past ten years of his professional career to the medical treatment of overweight and obese patients. He has helped more than 15,000 patients "get off the diet and exercise treadmill."
"The traditional paradigm for weight loss - diet, exercise and behavior modification - has proven ineffective for the vast majority of patients. Commercial weight-loss programs have a 95% failure rate of three to four years. Thus there is a need for a more aggressive medical approach, using prescription medication as an integral part of long-term success."
Dr. Skversky believes no one chooses to be overweight anymore than one chooses to be diabetic, hypertensive, short or bald! Obesity needs to be taken seriously, treated seriously and treated with respect.
